App to record possible resources
One of the first things we need is a way to record where possible contributors are, what fruit and vegetables they have, and whether they have been asked about being involved in the program or not. The best option we can see is an open source app of some kind that anyone can download. As we drive around Tauranga I see hundreds of fruit trees. Having a region map which can be marked with the location of a tree, where on a property it is, what variety it is and whether those on the property have been approached about being part of the APA.
In our heads, this app can then be expanded with other regions of New Zealand as time allows. Having a standard app and then an 'administrator' level or something similar for those who want to volunteer to collect the produce and redistribute it; and for those who are happy to take the produce and process it as well. The standard level app would be the first priority though, so we can at least start recording where produce is and know what we have access to.
